We are offering three PhDs that are extremely different from each other. Whether you care about developing new tools, saving the natural world, or letting your curiosity run wild, we've got a project for you!

1. Method development: Use novel autoML techniques to enhance gene network inference in single cell datasets. Opportunities to develop really innovative technologies with wide applications!

2. Impactful outputs: Work directly with an environmental charity to understand how a culturally-important wildflower will respond to climate change; conduct bioinformatics analysis of transcriptomic data, analyse sensor data, and learn how to conduct fieldwork in beautiful natural scenery.

3. Butterfly patterns: Use spatial transcriptomics to uncover the mechanisms of butterfly wing patterning.

These will take place in the University of York, UK, which is a beautiful historic city. Our lab is a real mix of mathematicians, computer scientists, molecular biologists, horticulturalists, and ecologists. We welcome individuals with non-traditional career paths.
