The Postdoctoral position is integrated within the DFG-funded Graduate School 4R: R-loop Regulation in Robustness and Resilience (GRK2859) at the University of Mainz. The 4R research focuses on the mechanisms through which RNA:DNA hybrids (R-loops) regulation exerts its influence on biological systems in terms of gene regulation and genome stability. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher, who will develop computational tools and pipelines to analyze, interpret, and integrate genome-wide R-loop distribution data and work in close collaboration with 4R doctoral researchers. You will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Brian Luke.
Your tasks:
- Analysis of genome-wide R-loop distribution and chromatin modifiers datasets derived from diverse biological systems in collaboration with 4R members
- Independent research in this field and interpretation of scientific data
- Preparation of publication-quality figures for the manuscript
- Presentation of data and research results on international conference
Your profile:
In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in ยง 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.
- A successfully completed scientific university degree
- A doctorate (PhD) in a field relevant to the position (eg. Bioinformatics or related field)
- Strong programming skills and knowledge of statistical methods
- Familiarity with Linux environment, version control and compute clusters
- Profound experience with R / Bioconductor for omics data analysis or equivalent
- Knowledge of Genome-Wide NGS analysis pipelines or equivalent
