This is a request for comments on planned changes to the ensemblVEP package. The intent is to provide lightweight wrappers to the ensembl VEP REST API and to deprecate most of the software in the package.

Users of ensemblVEP may respond with comments to this post to describe their use cases. As examples of new approaches emerge in development, I will post more details here.
