I'm the maintainer for the COTAN package. In the last build, we had a problem. We found that everything is coming from the updated irlba (cran) package used by the Matrix package (https://github.com/bwlewis/irlba/issues/70). To solve the problem it is enough to remove irlba and reinstall it.
Is it possible to do it also on the machines used to test the packages?

There is some conversation about this on our community slack. In good practice, to make sure all packages get updated in the community as well, it is better practice that any package that needs this does a version bump. The slack conversation had someone volunteering to email package maintainers and cc the matrix maintainer. We will monitor in the meantime.
