I see that this question was sort of asked previously, but that was in 2014, so I was wondering if there has been any changes in recommendations regarding how to use an external executable in an R package. Unfortunately I don't think it is possible to simply include the executables in the data folder or etc as the software must be installed to obtain the .exe file. I was envisioning the user providing the path to the .exe as a function argument after installation. Any help is appreciated!
