Is there an easy way to search the study descriptions for datasets available through recount3?

I see from the quick start guide how to load data given an SRA Study ID (e.g., SRP009615). However, it's not clear to me how to easily search for recount3 datasets on "colon cancer" for example. I can search at SRA for "colon cancer" (e.g., https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sra/?term=%22colon+cancer%22), but that returns individual samples and not unique studies. This issue may primarily be a user interface issue for SRA, but just wondering if anyone had a good work around to make data set searching easier in the context of recount3.

Hi @andrew.su,

There's no R function in recount3 for searching datasets like that. However, You can see at https://github.com/LieberInstitute/recount3-docs/blob/master/study-explorer/obtain_abstracts.R how I extracted all the study abstracts which you can search interactively at https://jhubiostatistics.shinyapps.io/recount3-study-explorer/. It's also embedded on the recount documentation website http://rna.recount.bio/.

It's limited, but that's what we have available right now.

Best, Leo
