Computational Biologist
Building on the Leukaemia Biology Laboratory’s recent success (e.g. Harris et al., Cancer Cell, 2012; Somerville et al., Cancer Cell, 2015; Wiseman et al., Leukemia, 2015 & 2016) we seek to appoint a bioinformatician to bring about a step change increase in our lab’s productivity in bioinformatics analyses, and to enhance our discovery-based research programme which has become increasingly dependent upon high throughput sequencing techniques, including RNAseq, ChIPseq and exome sequencing. In particular the essential role of the successful appointee will be to facilitate and enhance our ongoing record of excellence in research publication.
Our aim is to understand the fundamental basis of blood cancer and apply that knowledge to developing new treatment strategies for patients. The Institute’s advanced research programmes span a spectrum of cancer research, from the molecular and cellular basis of cancer through to drug discovery, translational research and clinical trials.
The successful applicant should have significant experience and competence in analysis of high througput sequencing datasets, as detailed in the job description. They should have a degree in computational biology, mathematics or related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).
Starting Salary: £23,800 - £39,900 dependent upon experience per annum
Duration: Four years’ fixed term
