Description
A postdoctoral position for a computational biologist / bioinformatician is available in the group of Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros (Heidelberg University / DKFZ) as part of a project to develop methods and resources for high-throughput RNAi screening.
The successful candidate will develop methods and software for the integrative analysis of RNAi screening data. She/He will develop re-usable analysis workflows, including visualization and comparison of screening results, and contribute to efforts to generate public resources for high-throughput screening data (e.g. GenomeRNAi). The candidate should also contribute to efforts to systematically identify off-target effects of RNAi screens using integrative analysis and develop analysis workflows for screening data using complex phenotypic readouts. The successful candidate should also work with users of high- throughput RNAi screening methods and support their analysis, as well as contribute to international training courses.
Profile
Candidates should be highly motivated, have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, biology, biochemistry or related field and a publication record in international peer-reviewed journals. Excellent knowledge of statistical analysis, Bioconductor/R, and a scripting language such as Perl and/or Python are required. Knowledge in high-throughput screening and network analysis is an advantage but not required. The candidates should be able to work independently, have strong communication and team working skills. The position further requires organizational qualifications and the ability to work effectively with internal and external collaborators. An excellent written and oral command of English is essential.
