Hello, I have a problem using big images (21Mpixel) with the EBImage package. I get an error message stating "cannot allocate vector of size 481.3 Mb". Is there a way to work around this problem? I tried to use the 64-bit version of R, but the package seems not to support that... Thanks for any suggestion! -- output of sessionInfo(): R version 2.14.1 (2011-12-22) Platform: i386-pc-mingw32/i386 (32-bit) locale: [1] LC_COLLATE=English_United Kingdom.1252 LC_CTYPE=English_United Kingdom.1252 [3] LC_MONETARY=English_United Kingdom.1252 LC_NUMERIC=C [5] LC_TIME=English_United Kingdom.1252 attached base packages: [1] stats graphics grDevices utils datasets methods base other attached packages: [1] EBImage_3.10.0 abind_1.4-0 loaded via a namespace (and not attached): [1] tools_2.14.1 -- Sent via the guest posting facility at bioconductor.org.

Hello Frank, This is a memory issue, probably coming from your R version or your hardware. How much memory do you have? Try to install the latest version of EBImage (version 4.0.0), which is GTK- and ImageMagick-independent and may support the 64-bit version of R.
