Assistant Professor Bioinformatics Starting April 01, 2012 The Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF), Medical Faculty, RWTH Aachen University invites applications for 4 Junior Research Group Leader Positions with a recognized expertise in the research areas of Medicine and Technology, Clinical Neuroscience, Cardiovascular Research and Inflammation (see also Naturejobs www.nature.com/naturejobs/science/jobs/216020-Bioinformatics- Assistant-Professor). One of the positions is designated for BIOINFORMATICS (Functional Genomics, Genome Biology, Epigenetics, Proteomics) Qualified candidates are invited to apply for this position. The Bioinformatics Group will also be affiliated with and further supported by the RWTH Graduate School, Aachen Institute for Advanced Study in Computational Engineering Science (AICES, www.aices.rwth- aachen.de). A future cooperation with the Forschungszentrum Jülich www.fz-juelich.de) is planned. Interdisciplinary scientific cooperation with other departments and clinics of the RWTH Aachen University Medical School, with the research areas of the RWTH Aachen University including TRR 57, IRTG 1328 and IRTG 1508, with the Aachen Competence Center of Medical Technology (AKM), the Helmholtz Institute of Biomedical Engineering and with other engineering disciplines are strongly encouraged. Specific emphasis will be laid on state of the art technologies and expertise bridging these areas. Each group will be equipped with an annual budget of 200.000 € (including the position of the Research Group Leader). Funding will be for a three-year period, with the possibility of a three-year extension after positive evaluation by the IZKF Scientific Board.
