The Technische Universität München (TUM) is one of the leading universities in Germany with 25,000 students and 400 Professors across 12 academic departments. Our continuous top performance in research, education and promotion of top talent make the TUM a privileged partner of multiple businesses and scientific institutions across the world. The Position: The successful candidate will become member of a growing interdisciplinary research team at the TU München focused on the development of proteome-wide activity and affinity profiling approaches and their application to chemical biology, biomarker discovery and signaling pathway analysis. We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to work on computational proteomics approaches to reconstruct and analyze networks of phosphoprotein signaling pathways. The research will focus on development of methods to discover signaling pathways as biomarkers, analysis of large-scale omics data, and the creation of tools/algorithms to integrate phosphoproteomics with other data resources (protein-protein interaction, expression/coexpression profiles, reaction pathways information, etc). The successful candidate will join the Chair of Proteomics and Bioanalytics group and will interact with scientists across the Technical University of Muenchen. The Chair of Proteomics and Bioanalytics group is internationally oriented, and has highly dynamic and challenging working environment, in which team work and initiative are stimulated. A Master degree (or equivalent) in relevant fields (bioinformatics, computer sciences, informatics, statistics, mathematics). Computer programming (perl/python, Java, Matlab, R) and managing computer systems are essential. Strong communication and presentation skills in English are also important. We are looking for a self motivated and broadly interested individual with significant future potential. Flexibility and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and on parallel projects are essential. We offer an open and stimulating scientific environment, a range of exciting projects and state of the art research facilities. The initial term of the position will be three years. Applicants should send a CV summarizing qualifications and experience, including the names of two referees to Amin Moghaddas Gholami (amin@tum.de) or to: Prof. Dr. Bernhard Kuster Chair of Proteomics and Bioanalytics Technische Universitaet Muenchen Emil Erlenmeyer Forum 5 85354 Freising Germany kuster@tum.de Phone: +49-8161715696 Fax: 49-8161715931 www.wzw.tum.de/bioanalytik/ [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
