Dear all, I've written a small booklet on using R for biomedical statistics (mostly focussed on cohort and case-control studies), available here under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License : "A Little Book of R for Biomedical Statistics" http://a-little-book-of-r-for-biomedical-statistics.readthedocs.org/ I would be grateful for feedback and comments. Kind Regards, Avril Avril Coghlan University College Cork, Ireland [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Avril. My first comment (as an unreconstructed paper-reader) is that a pdf version would be helpful. Please take discussion of this resource off this list. This has nothing to do with Bioconductor. Dear Avril: Thanks for creating this resource for beginners in R and biomedical statistics (I consider myself one). I have always benefited from resources kindly made freely available by the authors (e.g., www.r-project.org and www.bioconductor.org). However, please understand that this mailing list has a specific purpose. Your posting does not comply with "This mailing list is for questions and answers about using Bioconductor as well as announcements relevant to the Bioconductor project and community. " -- from https://stat.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/bioconductor (bioconductor info page). Your book is (or could be) interesting to some (many) members here, but it is not Bioconductor, and is best discussed elsewhere. I am a bit puzzled as to this discussion. After all the person posting the booklet would not have had a discussion here except for people complaining about it as inappropriate. It is a resource, there are newbies, it is useful, does it hurt anyone? Yet there are no complaints about a post that I would coniser "spam" calling for posters at a qPCR symposium. It is not a Bioconductor symposium per se. I think the idea of lets all chill out it is Christmas might be appropriate. Andy
