Dear Steve, The error message tells you that you are using the wrong architecture, i.e. you are trying to compile xps for 64 bit but it seems that you have installed the root binary for 32 bit. The solution is either to compile xps for 32 bit (but see below) or you need to compile root for 64 bit since there is no 64 bit binary. If you want to compile 64 bit root you need to install the correct gfortran and delete two lines in "root/config/Makefile.macosx64", see my last message in: http://root.cern.ch/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9721&highlight=&sid=fcd8aab 3501bcd3a059a1338a21a65f9 In this matter Simon was very helpful, see the discussion at: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-sig-mac/2010-January/007049.html One more issue: If you decide to stay with 32 bit root you need to install root_5.24/00 since root_5.26/00 has a bug preventing xps to work correctly. If you want to compile 64 bit root you need to download either the latest root version from svn or you need to stay with root_5.24/00.
