I am trying to install EBImage on a Windows box. I have R version 2.8.1. I downloaded the newest release of ImageMagick to c:\imagemagick and it is in my path. GTK+ is in the path c:\gtk. Both of these are listed correctly in my path. I downloaded EBImage_2.6.0.zip I get the following error message: > library(EBImage) >>>> in dialog box <<< Runtime Error! Program: C:\R\R-2.8.1\bin\Rgui.exe R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Hi Perry, First, I would suggest you to switch to the latest Bioconductor release 2.4, which contains EBImage 3.0.0 (also available at http://bioconductor.org/packages/2.4/bioc/html/EBImage.html). EBImage 3.0.0 is a major release which fixes a lot of speed/bug/design issues. R6034 seems to be a linking related error (C runtime library loaded without manifest). Could you please tell me what are your versions of GTK+ and ImageMagick ? It may be related to the new ImageMagick 6.5.1 which uses a different signature for some deprecated functions. This issue is fixed in EBImage 3.0.0. EBImage works fine on Windows with gtk+-2.0 2.12.9 and ImageMagick 6.3.7 Q16 and 6.4.2 Q16. Hope this will help ! Dear Perry, According to a forum, this issue is related to ImageMagick which is now built with Visual C++ 2008 and requires external VC++ 2008 components to be run (!!). The Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03 -4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en Just install it and EBImage will work fine. It is a bit unfortunate that one should download compiler-specific components to use a redistributable library !! This is not the first time that ImageMagick brings a lot of troubles... Hope this helps. Best regards, Greg --- Gregoire Pau EMBL Research Officer http://www.ebi.ac.uk/~gpau/ Perry_D_Haaland at bd.com wrote: > I am trying to install EBImage on a Windows box.
