Two postdoctoral positions at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge
Research
Institute (CRI) are available for computational scientists in Dr
Florian
Markowetz's research group.
Computational Cancer Genomics and Genetics (2 positions) - Ref 7988
1. Computational diagnosis of disrupted signaling pathways in tumors
2. Leveraging heterogeneous data sources to identify key drivers of
disease
Research
The successful applicants will work on collaborative projects in
breast
cancer genetics and genomics, which aim to identify key drivers of
disease by integrating genome-wide data from SNP, array CGH, gene
expression, and microRNA profiling studies.
The successful applicants will develop statistical and machine
learning
methodology to leverage complex biological data sources for biomarker
discovery, reconstruction of gene networks and diagnosis of disrupted
signaling pathways in tumors. The projects will be in close
collaboration with the Ponder and Caldas research groups at the
Institute.
Requirements:
A broad background in a quantitative discipline (like Bioinformatics,
Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, or Engineering) is
required. Expertise in Machine Learning and experience with clinical
data, cancer genomics and cancer-related pathways is highly desirable.
Applicants should be highly motivated, resourceful, and enthusiastic
about working in an interdisciplinary environment.
The successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in a young
and energetic computational biology group in a highly collaborative
cancer research institute, and to interact with other computational
biology, machine learning and genomics groups in the Cambridge area.
