Bioc-devel is only meant to run on R-devel. So, I would suggest installing two versions of R. On windows, I think these two versions can coexist and the user can choose from the Program menu (but I could be wrong on this). On linux/unix, you can simply create a symbolic link called Rdev (or something like that) to the executable for R-devel and the one for R to the executable for R-2.5.1, for example. Then, when a user starts up her chosen version of R, the appropriate bioc package versions will be in use. Sean

If you are on Linux, install another R somewhere and use any other set of packages there. If you are on Windows, you can simply copy your full R directory to another directory and create new desktop/menu links. Otherwise, you cannot have two versions of the same package in the same R environment, so having another R installation is the only option AFAIK.
