One possibility could be that some of your files are in a binary format (aka version 4 or xda format) and some are in a text format (aka version 3). That would give vast file size differences. One question that perplexed me is that the size of the data is very different, some are around 12 mega bytes (cel files), some are even more than 30 mega bytes, I thought same type of chip should have similar size of CEL files, why they can be so different? > > Many thanks, > > James > > > --------------------------------- > Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell. > [[alternative HTML version deleted]] > > _______________________________________________ > Bioconductor mailing list > Bioconductor at stat.math.ethz.ch > https://stat.ethz.ch/mailman/listinfo/bioconductor > Search the archives: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.science.biology.informatics.conductor

RMAExpress will process binary and text format cel files together with no problem if they are really from the same chip type. The same holds true for data read using ReadAffy(). Best, Ben On Sun, 2007-06-24 at 15:24 -0700, James Anderson wrote: > If that's the case, would that be possible for them to be processed together with RMA? I used RMAExpress to process files with very different size together, it seems that there is no problem with that. > > Ben Bolstad <bmb at="" bmbolstad.com=""> wrote: One possibility could be that some of your files are in a binary format > (aka version 4 or xda format) and some are in a text format (aka version > 3).
