I am wondering if it is possible to include author footnotes (e.g., asterisk for equal contributions) in a BiocWorkflowTools::f1000_article document? I have tried various solutions for "standard" rmarkdown outputs that worked in a mock document, but these were omitted (didn't show up) for the F1000 output. I have seen shared authorships on F1000, but maybe this is only possible when using Overleaf? Any suggestions / experience with this greatly appreciated!
