EMBL European Molecular Biology Laborat…

A joint postdoctoral project is planned by the groups of Aissam Ikmi and Wolfgang Huber at EMBL Heidelberg to develop cutting-edge computational approaches at the intersection of developmental and regenerative biology. The goal of the project is to build an integrated ‘big-data’ based quantitative model in 4D of gene expression, cellular behaviors and mechanics of animal development and regeneration in a unique model system, the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis. This animal has extraordinary regenerative capabilities, has a translucid body plan accessible to optical observation, and is genetically well-tractable with robust tools to manipulate gene function through CRISPR/Cas9, shRNA and transgenesis.
