IPMC is a centre of excellence funded by CNRS and the University of Nice. Our remit is to identify key molecular and cellular mechanisms that contribute to human disease. Our team develops functional genomics approaches in asthma, cystic fibrosis and fibrosis, with the aim to understand the normal or pathological functioning of the airway epithelium. Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow or research engineer, proficient in R/Perl application development, with experience in NGS data analysis, to work on one of the 38 pilot projects of the Human Cell Atlas project that were recently selected by the Chan Zuckerberg Foundation (https://chanzuckerberg.com/human-cell-atlas). The candidate will be responsible for the development and deployment of new R/Perl packages for single cell RNAseq data analysis, based on new methods developed by the research team.
Requirements:
PhD or Master Degree + 3 years experience in either: bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, computer science. Proficiency in R/Perl package development and in at least one additional programming language (C/C++, Java,Python, shell scripting); Experience with parallel computing in a Linux environment; Experience with version control systems (github, SVN,…); Experience with NGS data analysis (RNAseq, CHIP-seq,…)
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently and have good problem solving skills. The candidate will also have good English communication and interpersonal skills, in order to interact with a wide range of people: biologists, statisticians, mathematicians and other programmers. The candidate will be required to present his/her work during lab meetings and conferences.
